Pediatric Audiology Training Module
Basic Assessment and Counseling in Pediatric Audiology: A module of webinars and readings for pediatric audiologist in WA state. Content includes a series of recorded webinars and readings to be completed independently over a 3-month time period. Audiologists participate in monthly live discussion meetings with an audiology mentor. Content is appropriate for beginning/less experienced pediatric audiologists.

The Pediatric Audiology Training Module includes a series of recorded webinars and readings to be completed independently over a 3-month time period. Audiologists can participate in monthly live discussion meetings with an audiology mentor.
The WSELC Pediatric Audiology Training Module is available for continuing education credit for 11.5 credit hours (1.15 ASHA CEUs) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The 1.15 ASHA CEUs are provided as completion of all required readings and recorded webinars and will be submitted at completion of the module. ASHA CEUs should be expected to be available in an individual’s ASHA transcripts two weeks after the end of the month in which the module is completed.
- Who should participate in this training opportunity?
- The content for the training modules is geared towards pediatric audiologists who are new to the field or more experienced audiologists who are new to working with children.
- Is there an option for discussion?
- Yes, there are 3 live discussion meetings where you can meet with a pediatric audiologist mentor along with other audiologists who are enrolled.
- In what order should I complete the training module?
- Start by completing the “Getting Started in Pediatric Audiology” module, then the “Basic Pediatric Audiological Assessment” and finally the “Conversations and Counseling in Pediatric Audiology”. Within each module, complete each of the readings and webinars in the numbered order. The optional resources are not required readings, but are provided as helpful resources.
- What activities are required?
- You are required to read the entirety of each of the readings, watch the entirety of each of the recorded webinars and complete an evaluation of the module in order to earn ASHA CEUs. Participation in the live discussion meetings is optional.
- What are the disclosures of the presenters?
- All invited presenters (Janet DesGeorges, Karen Munoz) received an honorarium for the live presentation and have no other financial or nonfinancial relationships to disclose. Lisa Mancl receives funding as the WSELC Coordinator from the WA State Department of Health.
- If I don’t plan on getting ASHA CEUs, can I still participate in this training module?
- Yes, you can complete the learning module without getting ASHA CEUs and the timeline for your completion is up to you.
