Pediatric Hearing Aid Use
Title: Pediatric Hearing Aid Use: Behavior Management to Increase Wear Time
WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION FORM BELOW, YOU WILL HAVE IMMEDIATE ACCESS TO THE RECORDED WEBINAR
Brief Description
Early identification of hearing loss and access to effective intervention is critical for school readiness. Children have better spoken language outcomes when they wear their hearing aids 10 or more hours per day. Low hours of hearing aid use, however, is a common problem for young children. A variety of struggles can interfere with parent behaviors, including learning new information and skills, and developing new habits. Additionally, behaviors of young children can interfere with wear time, adding to challenges parents must navigate daily to manage hearing aid use. In this presentation, we will talk about parent and child behaviors that can interfere with consistent device use and strategies providers can use to support parents and increase wear time.

Presenter: Karen Muñoz, EdD, is department head and a professor of audiology in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Utah State University.
